What should I wear to grade 8 graduation, dance, and party?

I'm a guy. I was thinking of wearing a dress shirt, dress pants, purple tie, dress coat, and nice shoes for the graduation; a rolled up plaid shirt and nice jeans for the dance; and a polo t-shirt and shorts to the party. Now I'm a bit scared because the graduation is in the end of June and it might be really hot, and because I'm worried about dressing a bit too formally. Is this fine, or should I tone it down a bit? Also, should I use perfume/cologne at the graduation, or is deodorant just okay? I've never been to a graduation before, and my friends are really not helping (one is coming in a tuxedo, one is coming in a t-shirt)! So please help...
